ABOUT ME
My name is Baylee Wellhausen. I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor's degree in Journalism including a double-track in both strategic communications and reporting. I am a former member and captain of the UW Badger Women's Ice Hockey team as well.

I am a writer, a dreamer, and an athlete.
Growing up, my burning passions in my life were simple: hockey, writing, and reading. Being an athlete has awarded me with a knowledge and skill set I will take well into my future. It taught my to live by hard work and to be relentless in pursuit of my dreams. Writing showed me a way to connect with others intangibly. Reading showed me worlds in which to escape, experiences to relate to, and characters who helped me understand my own self. I truly believe there is nothing more powerful than the ability to make someone feel an emotion through words--to take a reader to a place or moment in his or her life that remains so fresh within the heart, no matter how long it has been. Stories are the basis of humanity. Through storytelling, we connect, we find hope, we find comfort in even the darkest of times.

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to share my voice during my athletic career at UW through a weekly blog called Baylee's Blog. It was an honor being able to capture the special moments my team shared and give the fans a way of understanding our team beyond simply the game itself.
As my college career is behind me, I continue to write in hope that people will find comfort in my thoughts here.

Thanks for taking the next stride with me!
